Kiln Rentals with MVP STUDIO

I am now offering kiln rentals at my home studio!!!

Please complete this form to fire with me :)

After completing the form linked above, let me know via email (mvpstudio.me@gmail.com) when you are dropping off. After the first rental, you only need to email me to schedule a drop off. You do not need to complete this form more than once.

KILN RENTAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Email me with the following information:
-Type of firing needed (Ex. bisque cone 04, glaze cone 6, glaze cone 04, etc.) I DO NOT FIRE LUSTER OR DECAL WORK
-Description of work (Ex. 6 mugs, 5 soup bowls, 3 large platters, etc.2)
-Deadline, if any (Please note, requested turnaround times faster than 2 weeks will incur additional charges. See “SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND” for more info.)

  2. Drop off work
-The drop off and pickup location is on the front porch. I will send you the address when I receive your email with the information listed above. All work needs to be in a box clearly labeled with your first and last name. I recommend using a plastic bin with a weather-tight lid.
-Leave items as close to front door as possible. Do not ring the doorbell or knock. I will bring your work inside after your drop off time period has passed.

  3. Pick up work
-I will unbox, fire, and repack your work. When these steps are complete, I will put your box back on front porch and let you know via email that your work is ready for pickup. Please pickup work as soon as possible when you receive this email.

  4. Pay for firing
-Each full kiln load is $55 and each drop off has a minimum $10 firing fee. If your work does not fill the kiln, I will charge you a prorated amount for the space your work does take up in the kiln.
-I will email you an invoice at the start of the month with your total firings for the previous month. I accept Venmo and Cash App for payment.

SOME THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

The porch is not weather proof. I recommend a plastic bin with a water-tight lid to pack your work into. Make sure all greenware is completely bone dry in the winter time. If your work still has moisture in it, you risk it freezing and your work will be ruined.

I do not fire luster or decal kilns.

This is property is my home and my studio. Please be respectful of mine and my neighbors’ privacy.

Kiln dimensions: 20”x20”x26”

Please make sure your work does not exceed these measurements.

Turnaround time for firings is typically 2 weeks. If you need work fired faster than that, extra charges will apply. It is possible your work will be ready for pickup before 2 weeks passes, but please keep this turnaround time in mind when planning your firings. There is only an additional charge for firings faster than 2 weeks if a fast firing is specifically requested.

TIPS ON PACKING YOUR WORK:

-Use more packing material than you think you may need. Better to have extra padding than not enough.

-Linens make great packing material and often provide better cushion than paper or bubble wrap. It’s also more easily reusable!

-Put a paper towel inside and around any handles to help protect these fragile protrusions.

-Wrap each item individually. Do not stack plates and bowls together, no matter how tempting it may be.

******IMPORTANT******

If any of your work damages the kiln shelves or kiln in any way during the firing you are financially responsible for the damages.

If you have any questions about this process please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for following these guidelines and I look forward to firing your work!
